About
In today's competitive environment, mastery of production processes and efficient management of all inspection tasks are decisive factors in achieving success. Furthermore, a central challenge for companies is to generate a distinctive profile. Unique products that appeal to the customer as well as error-free, robust and efficient processes provide the leading edge among the global competition.
The research area of the Chair of Production Metrology and Quality Management focuses on all these challenges - both in basic research as well as in applied development. The core focus areas of this research field include the development and optimization of measurement processes and equipment, production-integrated metrology, machine-oriented quality control loops, Quality Management Systems, as well as knowledge, innovation and optimization management. Collaboration with GUtech
Since GUtech was founded in 2007 in collaboration with RWTH Aachen University in Muscat, the capital of the Sultanate of Oman, the different projects have been coordinated by our Chair of Production Metrology and Quality Management and Omani donors. The interaction of teaching activities, research and the regional economy is paramount. Employees at my Chair are in demand for transferring the knowledge of German engineering courses to different countries.
Former and current projects and the cooperation between RWTH Aachen University and GUtech offer great advantages for both sides. Internationalization activities are strengthened through solid cooperation of both universities as well as GUtech’s connection to Germany. Both universities also benefit from situational and cultural differences.
Step2Future
With our project Step2Future in the program “Transnational Education – Strengthening and Excellence by Building Profiles” (TNB-STEP), we will assist the development of GUtech along with our partners from 2017 to 2021.
The main objectives of the project are the public effectiveness of the achieved project results and the partnership in general, the improvement of communication structures and, in particular, the conveyance of German engineering values. The department contributes to the following measures:
- Cooperation and project management
- Quality assurance
- Master programs
- Graduate survey
- Mentoring concepts (for master students and laboratory exercises)
- Training opportunities and seminars
- Internship program
Since GUtech was founded, RWTH Aachen University has been assisting the partner university with the development of a Quality Management System based RWTH Aachen University standards, with the development of study programs, training opportunities, seminars and with the installation of new and innovative structures and components in teaching and research.
